However, the shifting entities that follow him serve as permanent indicators of his history. His master created these creatures as a punitive measure, reflecting his past behavior and negative traits. They feed on his guilt and mistakes, broadcasting mockery to deepen his shame. Their presence ensures he cannot evade his past actions.

He prefers to rest on a high tree bough, choosing isolated spots where he can relax alone and avoid contact with other shadows.
Occasionally, when he feels restless or angry, he scratches the tree. It's part of his habit he developed to avoid hurting himself by turning his frustration inward.
Spiked Barrier: When he raises his hand, spikes erupt from the ground around him, damaging all enemies within range and breaking through their blocks. However, Nocturnus uses this ability primarily to keep enemies from getting too close, rather than for direct combat.

Personality
He completely dropped the friendly, calm attitude he used to fake. Now, Nocturnus is driven entirely by a non stop rage that controls everything he does. He scarcely speaks anymore, choosing to stay in a dark, heavy silence instead of using words. The massive shame and weight of what he did in the past have turned him into a completely grim and quiet person.
He's eaten up by anger, shut away in silence, and crushed by embarrassment. The memories of who he used to be constantly torture his mind, and he absolutely loathes his past self. Nocturnus carries a massive amount of regret, looking back at his old choices as totally stupid and worthless. He feels nothing but disgust for his younger self, especially because of the awful way he used to treat one person and put them down.
The heavy burden of his past actions is always weighing on him, forcing him to completely cut ties with his old identity. Now, as he lives a new life as a shadow demon to stay as far away from that old person as possible while trying to find a way to make things right.

Relationships
Nocturnus has a really complicated relationship with Percep, mostly staying in a zone between total dislike and just barely tolerating him. There are times Nocturnus feels this huge, unexplainable aversion toward him, he will actively dodge conversations or skip out on activities just to avoid him, always preferring to be left alone rather than dealing with his presence. To him, Percep is just a constant bother, and Nocturnus doesn't hide his frustration or annoyance when he's around.
The real reason Nocturnus avoids Percep so much is a deep sense of shame over the fact, used to ruthlessly bully and mistreat Percep in the past, long before either of them became shadow demons. Now that they share a new existence, Percep has actually forgiven him, fully understands that they were both simply young and foolish back then, and is completely cool with hanging around his former bully. For Nocturnus, however, it creates a massive mess of mixed feelings and internal conflict.
He is so crushed by his own past cruelty that he genuinely believes he doesn't deserve that forgiveness, making Percep's kindness feel more like a punishment than a relief.
In the end, Nocturnus decided to distance himself from Percep. He finally realized that speaking harshly at Percep or acting maliciously toward him served no purpose but also served only to remind him of the monster he once was. Instead of wasting his energy or being tormented by guilt over a friendship he felt was unworthy of him, Nocturnus simply chose to walk away and leave Percep completely alone.
He made a firm resolution to never hurt or mistreat him again.
